Remembering Air Show Performers

It’s been five months since the plane crash that eventually cost wing walker Amanda Franklin her life. This weekend saw the tragic deaths of three more air show performers – two in the US and one in the UK.

On Saturday, Bryan Jensen died when his biplane crashed at an air show in Kansas City. TV station KMBC (www.kmbc.com) has a video of the crash.
Todd Green, like Amanda, was a wing walker. He fell to his death Sunday when he was performing at an air show near Detroit - at the Selfridge Air Show at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base.

Jon Egging, a UK Red Arrows pilot, died when his plane crashed during a performance at the Bournemouth Air Festival on Saturday.

In each tragedy, air show attendees witnessed the crash. At the March 12 air show in Brownsville, I was standing almost underneath the Franklin’s plane when the engine belched fire. Since that day, I, like thousands of others, prayed for Amanda and Kyle. Those who witnessed this weekend’s plane crashes will not soon forget them.
As spectators, we share in their adventures and are thrilled at their daring and skilled performances. When they die, we pray for them and their families. We offer our sincere condolences and will long remember Amanda, Bryan, Todd and Jon.
